A ZERO to THREE Professional Development Training Program and Curriculum for Early Learning Professionals: For Dayhome, daycare and preschool educators, directors and managers and early learning care professionals. All early learning educators and professionals are welcome to register.

ZERO to THREE Growing Brain Workshop on the Growing Brain Basics includes foundational UNITS 1, 2, AND 3.

• ZERO to THREE Growing UNITS 4, 5, 6 & 7 are offered for registration following these units with a minimum workshop size of 8 registrants for ONLINE offerings.

🧠 UNIT 1: The Growing Brain – The Basics Developed by ZERO to THREE

Discover how young children build their brains—every single day!
In this foundational session, we’ll explore how early experiences as part of the everyday experiences of relationships with parents and caregivers shape brain development - from birth to age 5:

✔️ Learn how brain connections are formed through everyday interactions and experiences.
✔️ Be introduced to how different regions of the brain—responsible for senses, emotions, memory, thinking, and planning—become interconnected and develop from the "bottom-up" and "back to front"
✔️ Discuss how this knowledge can change how we understand and respond to challenging behaviors in young children.
✔️ Explore how this promotes healthy attachment, encourages creative exploration, and fosters problem-solving and thinking skills.

This session helps educators and caregivers see challenging behavior through the lens of brain development—offering practical approaches to build stronger relationships, promote early brain growth and development, and support every child’s potential.

🧠 UNIT 2: Factors Affecting Brain Growth and Development

What supports healthy brain development —and what gets in the way?

✔️ Understand the key factors that affect brain growth and development in children -- from birth to 5 years
✔️ Learn how stress impacts early brain development—and what is positive, tolerable and toxic stress **
✔️ Discuss what secure and insecure attachment may look like in young children
✔️ Discover the 5 R’s—strategies developed by ZERO to THREE for promoting healthy brain development
✔️ See how these strategies come to life through everyday routines and repetition in early childhood settings

This workshop connects science to practice—giving educators and caregivers tools to support brain development during the critical early years through nurturing, responsive relationships and consistent daily routines.

🧠 UNIT 3: Supporting Language & Literacy Development

Developed by ZERO to THREE

From birth, children are born “Citizens of the World”—with the ability to recognize and learn the sounds of any language.

Today’s early learning environments reflect this diversity more than ever, as children who speak different languages learn, play, and grow together.

✔️ Learn, discuss, and share approaches, strategies, and real-world examples of inclusive learning environments
✔️ Strategies to support early communication skills
✔️ With a special focus on environments and approaches supporting multi-language learners

This session provides tools and insights to help educators and caregivers create responsive, inclusive spaces that nurture early language and literacy development—right from the start.

• Three (3) digital ZERO to THREE Participant Manuals: Unit 1, 2, and 3 - ZTT Growing Brain - Birth to Age 5
• A "Certificate of Completion" for each UNIT completed of Zero to Three: The Growing Brain - From Birth to Age 5 .

The "Zero to Three: Growing Brain Participant Manual". The manual is 7 separate Growing Brain Units. It is a digital PDF of 196 with color graphics designed by ZERO to THREE to support the application of practice. Included in the manual is - learner content, reflection questions, a reference of key terms and definitions, and parent handouts.

This is an approved PD FUNDED Training Workshop for reimbursement with Alberta Childcare Grant Funding Program: To certified staff working in licensed: childcare and ECE preschool programs, and with family dayhome agencies. A Child Care Grant Funding professional development application form is completed for reimbursement of registration fees + staff are paid for their time in a PD Workshop through the Release Time Grant. Information is provided by See How They Grow to registrants as a PDF with a LINK and Step by Step Instructions to complete the form for reimbursement for this PD Workshop and to be paid for your time completing this workshop.
